In
1967, James C. Pritchard, Sr., along with four other businessmen started
Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens, one of the areas only perpetual care
cemeteries giving families an alternative to the traditional church
and city cemeteries.
The cemetery grounds
includes burials from pre-Civil War days. Later in 1985 after Mr. J.C.
Pritchard, Sr. death, his son James Carl Pritchard, Jr. became president
of Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens. In 1995, Tallapoosa County Memory
Gardens added a full service funeral home, Alabama Funeral Homes, and
Alabama Cremation Centers, the only cremation center in east central
Alabama. Alabama Funeral Homes and Alabama Cremation Centers
are both conveniently
located on the cemetery grounds.
