Barbara Elaine Knoblett was born February 2, 1949 to the late Earnest and Nina Bond Alspach. Barbara passed away on January 15, 2019 on Lake Martin near Dadeville, Alabama.

She is also preceded in death by Harry and Sue Alspach, Ray and Gayla Alspach, and sister-in-law, Brenda Alspach.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Melvin E. Knoblett. She is also survived by her daughter, Melanie Ayn (Scott) Walling and their children, Chase and Anna Walling of Jemison, Alabama; daughter, Amy Michelle (Matthew) Higdon and their children, Brock, Nicholas, Isabel “Izzy” Hidgon of Pelham, Alabama; and son, Michael Scott (Heidi) Knoblett and their daughter, Kaydian “KK” Knoblett of Newnan, Georgia. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and many loving family members.

Barbara grew up in Hardinville, Illinois and attended Oblong High School. She worked as a beautician after graduation. She married Melvin on May 25, 1969 and traveled to several states while he was in the Army. After Melvin’s time in the army, they lived to New Orleans where they raised their three children. During their time in New Orleans, she volunteered as a substitute teacher to teach remedial reading to children. In 1986, they moved to Birmingham, Alabama where Barbara started a hair salon business and operated it until 1996. She began an additional day spa business where she was able to work with her daughters and husband. While operating the day spa, she obtained a bachelors degree in clinical hypnotherapy from St. John’s University. She was a lifelong learner and teacher of healing arts. She was an artist who loved and embraced creativity. She was an outgoing spirit who loved connecting with the individuals that she came in contact with. She also served as a youth director at Pelham United Methodist Church. She enjoyed vacationing in Jamaica and Mexico.
