Betty Gordy Williams

February 1, 1933- March 22, 2020

 Betty Williams passed away on Sunday, March 22 at the age pf 87. She loved the Lord, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, The Worthwhile Club of Dadeville, AL and Red Ridge United Methodist church. As a school teacher for 28 years she will be remembered by many of her students as being committed to their learning English as well as lessons on how to be their best person. Mrs. Williams was born in Emanuel County, Georgia, was a graduate of Georgia Southern University.  She had a lifelong love of reading, and gardening, both she passed on to her children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ted Sawyer Williams, Sr., her son, Samuel Thomas Williams, her father Alton Lee Gordy, her mother, Dora Alice Hurst Gordy Murphree. She is survived by her sons, Ted Sawyer Williams, Jr., and Edmund Devon Williams both of Dadeville, Alabama, one daughter, Deborah Williams Barnes, (Patrick) of Pike Road, Alabama, seven grandchildren, Stewart Williams, Patrick Barnes, Jr., Elizabeth Barnes Mularz, (Scott), Alysia Williams, Wade Williams, Alexandria Williams, and Samantha Williams; great grandchildren, Savannah Williams and Easton Mularz, her brother, Wade Thomas Gordy of Jackson, SC, special cousin Shirley Hill of Swainsboro , GA, daughter in law, Dorothea Williams of Loganville, GA, special family member, Nora J. Williams and many nephews and nieces. Mrs. Williams’ family thanks the staff of The Veranda Assisted Living in Dadeville, AL for the love and care provided her over the last year, she often said how well and kind she and Sweetie Pie were cared for.
