Donna Gurley passed away on June 11, 2020 at the age of 69. A visitation for Donna will be held Sunday, June 14, 2020 in the parlor of Alabama Funeral Homes & Cremation Centers of Camp Hill, Alabama at 1:00 pm CST. A graveside service will follow in Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm CST with Reverend Ronnie Jennings and Reverend Billy Moore officiating.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Hoover and Bertha Gurley; daughter, Jeannie Davis; and sisters, Janice Bailey, Denise Swindle, and Diane Gurley.
She is survived by son, Jeremy Davis (Sabrina); grandchildren, Melanie Davis (Tim), Miraina Davis, Abigail Davis, Katie Johnson, Ben Johnson, Jerry Matherson, Trent Matherson; great-grandchildren, Madeline and Isabella; brother, Michael Gurley; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
Donna was a restaurant manager for many years and was unbelievably compassionate. Her heart and her generosity knew no bounds. Her door was always open for anyone who needed to talk. You could just walk in and people often did. Maw Maw always had a place to sit and an ear to listen for a few minutes or a few hours. Her hospitality, generosity, heart, and home has always been open for anyone to enjoy… and her infamous coffee. She would give you a cup in a heartbeat.
Donna loved to give her time and her focus to others. She was always willing to give just a little bit more. She was truly selfless. She loved her kids and grandkids more than anything. She was perfect, perfect in every respect. She was the epitome of what a Maw Maw is. Her laugh, her smile, her big kisses, her hugs, they were perfect, and she was the perfect momma and Maw Maw. We are all a little closer to perfection to have had her in our lives.
