Leona S Johnson was born in Lubianka, Poland on April 10th, 1934. Leona went to be with the Lord on September 15th, 2020. She is preceded in death by her father and mother Peter Swarcz and Josefa Deszcyskiewicz, her sister Genny Boza, her brother Peter, previous husbands Frank Sekura, and Jim Johnson. Leona is survived by her partner Kenny Shown, children Gary Sekura, and Theresa Tarnowski, grandchildren, Kevin Tarnowski spouse Jennifer Tarnowski, Stephen Sekura, Stacey Tarnowski-Jones spouse Josh Jones, Michael Sekura, Lindsey Fisher , Christopher Tarnowski-Thorne spouse Jason Tarnowski-Thorne, and her great-grandchildren Alexander, Abigail, Madeline, Laura, and Jacob.

Leona immigrated to America after World War 2, after her liberation from Auschwitz. As an immigrant to America she made a point to live the American dream to the fullest. The American Dream that anyone can succeed with a bit of hard work an ingenuity. She instilled this American Dream into her children who learned by example to excel and strive for the best in life and in family. If we can learn anything from our time with Leona it is that we must live life to the fullest. Remember that each day is a blessing gifted to us and that the next day is not guaranteed. Throughout her battle with dementia she never lost her Polish fire and tenacity. Those left behind will continue to share the stories of her infectious smile, contagious laugh, unmatched compassion, endless love, and unimaginable strength. We raise a glass to her today, and in the future days we are blessed, Na Zdrowie Leona.

In lieu of flowers we request donations in her name to support dementia patients, and to battle dementia related illnesses.
