Cheryl "Gma" Platt (née Lasch), aged 79, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, in Alexander City, Alabama. Born on September 4, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Cheryl was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Lasch.

Cheryl dedicated much of her life to her work at Northland Day Achievement Center. Her time there brought her immense joy and fulfillment, as she cherished the daily activities and the stories they inspired. She often returned home with a smile on her face and a heart full of warmth from the connections she made during her days at the center.

Cheryl's generosity and kindness were hallmarks of her character. Known for her selflessness, she would go out of her way to brighten someone’s day, even offering the shirt off her back if it could bring comfort or happiness to another. Her loving spirit touched all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

She is survived by her devoted daughter, Katoria Platt, and her cherished grandchildren, Dalton and Lily Shaw. Cheryl was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Margaret Lasch, as well as her former husband, Luther Platt.

Cheryl will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory serve as a source of comfort and inspiration to all whose lives she touched.
