Marc Larue Gillette

Marc Larue Gillette, 68, of Opp, Alabama, passed away in his home on September 18, 2026. He was born on September 15, 1958, in Niles, Michigan, to the late Dale Gillette and Mildred Kuball Gillette.

Marc grew up on his parents’ apple orchard in Niles, Michigan, alongside his two sisters, Joanne Gillette and Diana Gillette Warnke. The family farm remained an important part of his story, providing a setting for many of the experiences, interests, and memories that shaped his life.

A lifelong lover of fishing and writing, Marc could often be found with either a fishing rod or a notebook in hand, spending time along the shore of a lake or wandering the family farm. His creativity found expression through lyrics, short stories, and books. He authored and published two books, Bull and Cherry-O.

During his retirement years, Marc made his home in Opp, Alabama, a place he had first visited in his youth and had long hoped to return to.

He is survived by his sisters, Joanne Gillette and Diana Gillette Warnke, and Diana’s husband, Joseph; his nephews, Andrew Rossow; Eric Neff and his wife, Ashley, and their children; Erik Schofield and his wife, Samantha, and their children; as well as his niece, Joanna Warnke.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, a private remembrance will be held in place of a public funeral service.

Marc Gillette was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.
