Michael Joseph Mattiace Jr.
August 17, 1955 – April 23, 2026

Michael Joseph Mattiace Jr., known to all as Mike, passed away on April 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Mike was born in Manhattan, New York, and spent his early years in the city before moving to Lincoln Park, New Jersey, at the age of 13. Mike graduated from Boonton High School in Boonton, New Jersey. He has maintained wonderful friendships throughout the years with several of his classmates. During his school years, Mike enjoyed playing numerous sports, including lacrosse, boxing, and football. He was a natural athlete and excelled in everything he attempted.
In 1988, he relocated to Florida, where he met the love of his life, Dianne. The two were married in 1991on a yacht named Celebration in Fort Lauderdale. Together, they shared a life filled with partnership, adventure, and mutual devotion. Eight years ago, they made their home at Lake Martin in Dadeville, Alabama, where they embraced the beauty and tranquility of their surroundings and enjoyed long, lazy days on the lake.
As an adult, he continued to enjoy boating, softball, lacrosse, boxing, waterskiing, snow skiing, and, of course, playing with the three grandkids. He treasured the many vacations shared with his family and grandchildren over the years, creating memories he often reflected on with great fondness.
Mike never met a stranger. Outgoing and full of humor, he was known for his quick wit, jokes, and one-liners that could bring a smile to anyone’s face. He had a natural ability to connect with people of all ages and was deeply loved and will be missed by those who knew him.
Mike enjoyed a dedicated career as a Property Manager in the South Florida area, serving for over 30 years. After moving to Alabama in 2018, Mike continued to work within his community of Stillwaters, performing light maintenance work for the past six years. He truly enjoyed being part of the “crew” and valued the friendships he made along the way.
Mike is survived by his loving wife, Dianne; his stepsons, William R. English Jr. and wife Jennifer of Madison, Alabama, and Scott English of Coral Springs, Florida; and his grandchildren, Jeffrey English, Mary English and husband, Renan Martins, and Lucas English. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Lisa Davis and husband Robert Davis, Linda Boyd and husband Jim Boyd, and brother-in-law Will Hogans and wife Lisa Hogans, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael J. Mattiace Sr. and May Mattiace; and his siblings Debra Golabek, Gina Herbek, and Joseph Mattiace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 12:00 PM in the Stillwaters Community Room.
