Patricia “Patti” Mae Thompson
May 1, 1963 – December 6, 2024
Patricia “Patti” Mae Thompson, of Wadley, AL, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024 at the age of 61 after a brief illness at WellStar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange, Georgia. Born May 1, 1963 in Rutland, Vermont, Patti was a member of the Wadley community where she spent most of her life.
Patti was a proud graduate of the Wadley High School class of 1981. She married the love of her life, Jerry Allen Thompson, in 1992, and together they shared a life filled with love, humor, and companionship. Patti worked in the customer service and mill industries, as well as her role as a homemaker.
She was a talented knitter and quilter, and she found joy in the simple pleasures in life: staying at home, reading, and late-night fishing trips with Jerry. Patti was a proud supporter of the United States Armed Forces and would wear red (Remember Everyone Deployed) every Friday in honor of those in the military. She had a deep affection for animals – particularly cats – and her home was a welcoming place to all furry friends.
Patti’s wit, dry humor, and sarcasm were hallmarks of her personality, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry, and her five sisters: Debi Vernon of Port St. Lucie,Florida; Nancy Goldsworthy of Jacksonville, Florida; Mary Johnson of Roanoke, Alabama; Roberta Snyder and Pamela Knudsen, both of Wadley, Alabama; and many nieces, nephews, as well as grand nieces and nephews. Patti was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Eunice Johnson.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Patti’s life. Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of her warmth, humor, and love. Please make any donations in Patti’s memory to an animal shelter of your choosing, the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org
