Wilbur Leroy “Wil” Martindale III, 66, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Thursday, the 11th of September. He will be remembered as a supportive father, a loving brother, a proud grandfather, and a friend to many. His presence, talents, and kindness left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Wil was born on April 8, 1959, in Baltimore, Maryland. Growing up in Baltimore, he developed a wide range of interests that would shape his life — from a love of music and craftsmanship to an appreciation for collecting and restoring unique pieces of history.

His passion for antique Baltimore soda bottles became one of his most defining pursuits. More than just a hobby, it was an art form for Wil. He became known in collector circles for his remarkable ability to restore broken or damaged bottles, returning them to their former beauty. His skill and dedication earned him a reputation as one of the most respected restorers in the field.

Music was another central part of Wil’s life. A gifted singer, songwriter, and guitarist, he had an ear for melody and a natural talent for performance. Whether playing his own music or gathering with friends to share songs, Wil used music as a way to connect and bring joy to those around him. His love of music reflected the same dedication and enthusiasm he brought to the endeavors that defined him.

Outside of his talents, Wil enjoyed life’s simpler pleasures. He had a deep appreciation for good food, exploring new beers, and spending time with family and friends. The beach was one of his favorite places, where he found peace and happiness with the ocean nearby, a fishing line in the water, and loved ones close at hand.

Family was at the heart of Wil’s life. He is survived by his sisters, Sandra Cooper and Patricia Martindale; his daughters, Kyrie Bass and Linsey Forster; his grandson, Alden Bass; and his granddaughter, Makayla Forster. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marie Betz; his step-father, Jim Betz; his father, Wilbur Martindale Jr; and his grandparents, Christina and Vincent Bernardini.

A celebration of his life will be held in both Baltimore, Maryland, and Tallahassee, Florida, with dates and exact locations to be determined. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and honor his memory.
