Owen James Thomas passed away on June 22, 2019 at the age of 17 years old.

For those of you that do not know, Owen Thomas was in a terrible car accident on Saturday, June 22, 2019, and he passed away on impact. He was only 17 years old with a full-time job at Niffers. He would have been going into his senior year at Dadeville High School. He was in the band, and he enjoyed playing the drums. He always had a kind heart and was the best person to be around. God only knows why he took him from us this early in life. For those that do not know, Owen wanted to graduate, go into the army to become a diesel mechanic where he would have a devoted career and eventually retire.

A visitation for Owen will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 from 10 – 11 a.m. CST in the parlor of Alabama Funeral Homes & Cremation Centers. A funeral service for Owen will be held at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow in Tallapoosa County Memory Gardens.

Owen was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Virgil Blackburn, Jr. He is survived by his mother, Beth Ann Blackburn; stepfather, Chadrick Blaine Lawson; father, James Thomas; sisters, Adoska Presley (Logan Dain Presley), Country Thomas (Steven Kacie Presley); grandparents, Calvin Thomas, Patricia Rolland, Angela Beverly; Nephews, Camden, Clayton, Carson, and Colton; Nieces, Hailey and Joycelyn; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with the cost of funeral arrangements.
