Russell Verne Calaway, Jr. of Opelika, Alabama was born in Iowa on June 17, 1951 and passed away at his home on February 5, 2024. He was 72 years old.
After graduating from high school, Russ moved to Colorado where he lived until retiring in the Opelika area.
During his life, Russ worked a variety of jobs in the automotive, construction, and manufacturing industries. He was also a veteran who served tours of duty in both the U.S. Army and Air Force.
Although Russ had no children, he loved his dogs, especially Rocky and Ginger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, aunt and 3 uncles.
Russ is survived by his sister Kathi; brothers, Denny and Dean; aunt Doris; uncles, Clifford and Paul; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
