Stephen Lee “Steve” Ringenberg, 75, of Richmond, Indiana, passed away on January 9, 2024. He was born on December 20, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri. Steve was a beloved father, grandfather, stepfather, and brother, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Steve is survived by his children, Ali Crawford, Ben Ringenberg, and Andrea (Bay) Kelley; his grandchildren, Juna and Josie Crawford, and Izzy Kelley; his stepsons, Aaron and Jay Wigger (Jenny) and step-grandchildren Jaiden, Jasmine, Jayce, and Jaylynn; and his siblings, Paul Ringenberg, Jan (Gary) Forrest, Tim (Amy) Ringenberg, Tom Ringenberg, and Mark (Brenda) Ringenberg. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Ringenberg; his parents, Ev and Joyce Ringenberg; his sister, Cathy Ringenberg, and sister-in-law Carolea Ringenberg.

Steve attended Richmond High School where he was president of his 1967 senior class, and later pursued higher education at the Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Virginia, and Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.

Steve’s multiple careers took him and his family from Columbus, Ohio to Charleston, SC, and Chattanooga, TN. They treasure the adventures they had together.

Steve’s personality was “larger than life” and he was affectionately known as “Big Papa” to his granddaughters, and “Big Guy” to family and friends. He was also incredibly generous, always modeling for his children and grandchildren ways to do good things for others.

Throughout his life, Steve shared his deep love for music with everyone around him. Playing the trombone, DJ’ing parties, attending Broadway shows and seeing live musical performances were his passions. He also loved sharing his vast knowledge of music trivia.

A memorial gathering for friends and family to honor Steve’s life will be held later in the year. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Steve Ringenberg will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His warm smile, kind heart, and love for life will forever be remembered. May he rest in peace.
