Mary Linda Crawford

August 15, 1943 – January 29, 2024

Mary Linda Crawford, age 80, from Greensboro, AL and longtime resident of Birmingham AL, passed away on January 29, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on August 15, 1943 to the late, Gaines Durwood and Elizabeth Hannah Crawford. She is survived by her brothers, Gaines Durwood Crawford, Jr. (Grace) and Gary Wilkerson Crawford (Patti); nieces, Elizabeth Crawford, Danielle Crawford Eimer, Natalie Crawford and Valarie Crawford White (Adam); along with, several precious grandnieces and grandnephews.

Linda’s strong, caring, and beautiful personality left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She enjoyed community service, entertaining, gardening, decorating and spending time with friends, family, and her beloved fur children: Raggs, Cici, Pollyanna, Daisy and Beach. She was a doting aunt “Lulu” to her four nieces, who love her immensely. Her best friends, Tommie Strickland, Jane Sears, Barbara Sears Planz and Naomi Barr, meant the world to her.

Linda worked for Southern Natural Gas Company before beginning a long career in food sales, with Sysco. She was known for her strong work ethic and spunky attitude. In 1999 she became the House Mother for Pi Kappa Phi at The University of Alabama. For 20 years, “Ms. C” delighted in taking care of “her boys” as if they were her own sons. She was honored to become a part of their lives.

Linda had a gift for making all of the people in her life feel special. The profound impact of her love will endure in all of the hearts that she touched.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the Pi Kappa Phi- Omicron Chapter, at their Chapter House, 130 University Blvd, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Service will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a light brunch and reception. In order to determine an accurate count, please RSVP to:  omicronclub@uapikappaphi.com no later than Sunday, February 25, 2024.

Per Linda’s request, a funeral will not be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Greater Birmingham Humane Society.
