Sky Keys passed away in Opelika, Alabama on January 24, 2024 with her daughter by her side. She was 74 years old.
She was born as Gloria Jean Vaquer in Morgantown, West Virginia on September 7, 1949 to the late, Lawrence and Ida Vaquer. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Jana Mora
She is survived by her daughter and devoted caretaker for many months, Scarlet Seixas; grandsons, Ty Turner and Dakota Posey; great-granddaughter Krysta Skye Posey; nephew, Adrian Vaquer; brothers, Jay and Patrick Vaquer; sisters, Peggy Vaquer and Cindy Heintz; her “best” friend and son-in-law, Kevin Grantham; and many other loving friends and family members.
She was gifted with a brilliant mind, a compassionate soul, and a giver. She was a world traveler, finding Peru as her favorite during her time traveling. She was an intellectual, an avid reader, and a professional rhythm and blues singer. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and picking and wrapping the perfect gifts for her loved ones. She always did what she could to help those in need. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, but her light will forever shine in the hearts of many.
A celebration of life will be held at her home at a later date.
