James Roy (Jamey) Henderson

January 17, 1967 – May 1, 2021

James Roy “Jamey” Henderson passed on May 1, 2021 in Opelika, Alabama.  He was 54 years old.

Jamey is survived by his parents, Jim and Bonnie Henderson of Opelika, AL,  his sister Heather Henderson and brother-in-law, Sam Jarvis of North Carolina.   Jamey is also survived by aunts and uncles Tom Henderson, Opelika, AL; Norma/Larry Ladd of Memphis, Tennessee; Gerald/Dot Brumbeloe of Lanett, AL; Renda/Sharon Brumbeloe of Oklahoma City, OK.

Jamey was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Irene Henderson of LaGrange, Georgia, and Barney and Thelma Brumbeloe of Lanett, AL, and his loyal canine companion, Hector.

Jamey was a lover of books and movies; you seldom saw him without a book in his hand.  Jamey was a previous Instructor of English and Drama at Southern Union State Community College at the Wadley and Opelika campuses and served as an adjunct English instructor at Auburn University-Montgomery.  He also taught English at Smith Station High School.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 1:00pm at Providence Baptist Church, Opelika with Dr. Rusty Sowell officiating.
